Charlie: ARGH, my shoe isn't right, the shoelace is all messed up
Me: Can you fix it or do you want me to
Charlie: I can't fix it. Freaking shoe.
Charlie was cleaning our windows with a spray bottle and wipe. While in the other room I heard the baby saying no no no. I came in to find her head all wet at which point I took the spray bottle away.
Me: Charlie you lost the spray bottle, you know the rules.
Ten minutes later...
Charlie: Where my spray bottle?
Me: Remember, you lost it.
Charlie: (looking so sad, and a bit confused) I lost it? in the forest.
Me: smiling, no I took it away
Charlie: a little shrug and confused look, "Oh"
At nursery school:
Charlie: Turns to a parent and says, "where is teacher Robin?"
Other mom: She is in the other room.
Charlie runs into other room and returns: "No the man teacher Robin"
Other mom: His name is Teacher Tom
Charlie: Oh
Charlie: For movie night I want to watch Ice Age. Nonnie can bring it here and I can watch it with mama. How bout that? I think she would like it.
Me: Nonnie can't drive all the way here to bring us a movie she doesn't own. We can try to rent it here.
Charlie: So excited, "They have that movie here?"
Me: Maybe, we can check
Charlie: "Who is they?"
Me: I don't know Charlie, lets practice being quiet for a minute.
Charlie: "I can't look behind me, might be a monster." he turns around "Oh man" makes his finger into a gun and makes realistic noises: "I got em."
Yesterday after preschool we packed up and headed to discovery museum. I thought it sounded more fun than trying to get kids to nap. Kate was crying in the car because she was tired.
Charlie: KATE. you like discovery museum? You stop crying, we go. You keep crying you will never ever again go to discovery museum.
Kate: Cries hard, mom laughs
Me: I love you so much
Charlie: Mommy, I love you more than that
Me: Lets go the park (or store, daycare at gym, preschool, anywhere...)
Charlie: I soooo yucky (lucky!)
so am i charlie, so am i!
Charlie never stops talking. He can be found alone in a room acting out an entire creative scene with a food wooden animals and a car. He asks questions I struggle to answer. He is funny, sweet, serious, creative, and silly. He is a gift and we are incredibly lucky this smart boy belongs to us.
